The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa has placed a ban on all on-premise and off-premise sales of alcohol in the country due to the rising cases of coronavirus.
Alcohol manufacturers will still be allowed to export products out of the country.
In an article in The Drinks Business, the president was quoted as saying that excessive alcohol consumption is “driving up the number of trauma cases in our hospitals.”
