News Iconic BridgePort Announces Closing

One of the oldest craft breweries in the country is closing. BridgePort, founded by Richard and Nancy Ponzi in 1984, announced on its Facebook page that the iconic brewery will close on March 10th.

The announcement said that an extremely “competitive craft beer market” in the Pacific Northwest was the decision to close.

BridgePort sold to The Gambrinus Co. of Texas in the 1990s. It is the latest in a string of recent closures in the Portland area including Alameda Brewhouse, Portland Brewing’s brewpub, Widmer Brothers Brewing tasting room and Portland Burnside Brewing
