Hops Seminar Offered in Yakima

A two-day seminar on hops will take place September 9th and 10th at Hopunion CBS in Yakima, Washington. Optional hop-centric activities will also take place on Saturday, September 11.

Topics and activities will include detailed discussions on hops and brewing with hops, history of hops, dry hopping, brewing with wet hops, evaluation of hops, hop varieties and tours of the warehouse facilities and hop fields. Of course sampling of hoppy beers will also be in abundance.

Instructors and speakers tentatively scheduled include Matt Brynildson, Hop Chemist and Head Brewer at Firestone Walker Brewing Co.; Vinnie Cilurzo, Head Brewer at Russian River Brewing Co.; and Tom Nickel, Head Brewer for Oggi’s Pizza and Brewing brewpubs and Left Coast Brewing Co.; plus one or two other hop-head brewers still to be confirmed. Also speaking will be Ralph Olson, General Manager/Owner of Hopunion CBS; and Ralph Woodall, Sales Manager for Hopunion CBS.

Cost is $95 which includes lunch and dinner on Thursday; and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday. All local transportation in Yakima will be provided. For more information call Cindy, Jennifer or Nadi) at Hopunion at 1-800-952-4873.
