News New Law Allows Direct Shipping of Beer to Consumer in Kentucky

The state of Kentucky has enacted a direct-to-consumer (DTC) shipping law for beer, wine, and spirits, allowing alcohol manufacturers to ship beer to consumers doors in the state.

The bill was passed earlier last year and became effective July 15, 2020, but the state failed to issue the required regulations to implement the new law until recently.

The law is applicable to producers of beer, wine or spirits with federal basic permits and state production licenses in their home state. Producer licensees can ship up to 10 liters of distilled spirits, and up to 10 cases of wine or beer per month per Kentucky resident. Brands and labels must be registered with the Kentucky ABC.
