News NBWA Holds Court in Vegas

Trade show and seminars include craft beer segment

Over 3500 attendees are expected to gather at the National Beer Wholesalers Association’s 68th Annual Convention and Trade Show, which will take place at the Bally’s and Paris Hotels September 18-21st.

In addition to the massive trade show, there will be 22 educational seminars, a host of industry speakers and the usual assortment of hospitality gatherings.

The trade show floor, which includes vendors offering products and services, import brands, non-alcoholic beverages and a growing number of craft brewers, is an enormous event in itself. It takes place only every other year during the annual NBWA conference. This year, the Brewer’s Association will once again host a domestic craft beer garden showcasing small brewers from across the country.

Most of the seminars are targeted to the specific needs of wholesalers, but some are appropriate to craft brewers. A sampling of seminars includes; Understanding the Competitive Retail Landscape, How 20-Somethings Drink, Ongoing Challenging Trends in the Beer Industry and Beer, Wine or Spirits: What is America’s Choice?

There will also be a panel on craft beer titled; Craft Brewers Panel—The Beer Industry’s Hottest Segment. Emphasis on the “hottest segment” part! The panel is hosted by the BA and will include Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Kim Jordan, New Belgium Brewing Company, Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Company and Paul Gatza from the Brewers Association.
