More Distributor Consolidation

Heidelberg Distributing purchases A-B distributor

The A-B distributor in Springfield, Ohio, Eagle Beverage Company, has been purchased by Heidelberg Distributing one of the region’s largest wholesalers of beers, wines, spirits and non-alcohol beverages and also an A-B house.

Heidelberg’s Dayton facility will start deliveries as early as Monday, December 14. The transaction is expected to close within the next two weeks. “This was not an easy decision,” says James Acra, Eagle Beverage president. “My family did not come to the conclusion lightly to sell Eagle Beverage. Currently, there are a lot of unknowns in the wholesale beer and small business industry. We felt that the timing was right for us to make an exit from the beverage industry.”

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Heidelberg is already familiar with Eagle Beverage’s retailers, as it has serviced the same counties as Eagle Beverage with wine, other alcohol beverages and non-alcohol beverages.

In addition to Heidelberg’s Dayton facility, the company has operations in Cincinnati, Evendale, Columbus, Lorain, Norwalk, Cleveland, Toledo, and Covington, Ky. It serves more then 20,000 retail accounts throughout two states.
