Craft Goes Italian

Beverage Industry News» Beverage Industry Newsposted Dec 21st, 2006 12:00:00AM by Pat Hagerman

The Brewers Association will be participating in the Pianeta Birra trade show in Rimini, Italy February 10-13, 2007. The Brewers Association Export Development Program, in an effort to help promote the image of American craft beer as a world class brand, will utilize some of its program funds to pay for entry fees and transportation of the beer to the show.

Pianeta Birra is one of the largest beverage trade shows in Europe. It is limited to importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and hotel and restaurant establishments. The show is held in conjunction with three other international trade fairs: the International Food Show, the Mediterranean Seafood Exhibition and Food & Beverage Logistics Expo. Together, these events are expected to attract over 100,000 trade members in 2006, including visitors from countries throughout Europe.

At the show, the Brewers Association will be partnering with Unionbirrai, the Italian Craft Brewers Association. Representatives from Bier & Co., the Netherlands-based importer that is now finalizing plans to import a variety of US craft beers will also be on hand to work at the BA.

If you are interested in participating in the Pianeta Birra Trade Show, and other international beer events, you can contact Mark Snyder of the BA at mark@brewersassociation.org.
