Corona Breaks All-Time Record for Imports in 2004

Corona Extra posted record sales in 2004 with a projected 97 million cases
of depletions in the U.S. This sales volume is a first for any imported
beer. Corona will be on track to surpass the 100-million case mark in 2005.

The Mexican beer brand has showed substantial growth in the U.S.
imported-beer market over the past decade, during which Corona Extra has
registered a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.8 percent, according
to Impact Databank 2004. During that period, Corona’s volume has grown
six-fold. By comparison, during that same period the U.S. beer industry grew
at a CAGR of 0.7 percent. Corona Extra’s market success dates back further
than the past ten years, though; since Corona Extra was introduced in the
United States in the late 1970s, the brand has been the fastest growing
imported beer in U.S. history. Corona Extra is currently America’s
imported beer and the best selling beer, overall, in the U.S.
