Constellation Brands has said it will close the Ballast Point brewpub in Temecula according to an article in the Press-Enterprise. The company will also close its sour beer and barrel-aging facility, which has a dedicated 40-barrel brewhouse.
The announcement comes just a few weeks after Constellation took a $108 million impairment charge to the Ballast Point brand, two years after the company took an initial $87 million impairment charge to the Ballast Point brand. The moves indicate that the $2 billion acquisition of Ballast Point is probably not paying off for Constellation.
