News Carlsberg Closes Deal on Waterloo Brewing

The Carlsberg Group has closed the deal to purchase Waterloo Brewing in Ontario, Canada. Waterloo, which opened in 1984 as Brick Brewing is Ontario’s first craft brewery and was the largest craft brewery in the province until the purchase.

The deal was first announced last December. In addition to continuing to produce the Waterloo brands, Carlsberg has said that they plan to brew some Carlsberg brands at the Waterloo brewing facility in Kitchener.

Waterloo Brewing is a publicly traded company but will be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange now that the deal has closed.

The Carlsberg Group, based in Copenhagen, Denmark was established in 1847 and has products sold in 150 markets. Carlsberg is the flagship beer brand in a portfolio of 155 brands
