News Going Backwards – Texas and Florida Order Bars to Close

In a blow to the brewing industry, the governors of Florida and Texas order that bars close today until further notice to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.

In Texas, all on-premise licensed retailers that make more than 51 percent of their income from alcohol sales had until noon today to close their doors. Restaurants will be allowed to stay open but at less than 50 percent capacity.

In Florida, the only specifics so far came from a tweet by Halsey Beshears, Secretary of Department of Business & Professional Regulation that said “effective immediately, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation is suspending on premises consumption of alcohol at bars statewide.”
