News BBC Documentary to Detail BrewDog’s Illegal Beer Shipments to US – CEO Admits to ‘Shortcuts’

According to BBC News, Scottish brewer Brewdog sent multiple shipments of beer to the US with improper labels after giving the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) false information.

Brewdog allegedly failed to disclose extracts that would have to be approved by the TTB before allowing shipment into the US, a process that can sometimes take months.

The details of the shipments to the US and allegations by Brewdog employees that they were pressured into shipping beer that did not have proper TTB approval will be broadcast as part of a 60-minute documentary on BBC One Scotland on Monday 24th.

“Just how ‘punk’ is BrewDog? Reporter Mark Daly investigates the truth behind the beer company’s marketing and financial hype, and he hears disturbing claims about BrewDog’s corporate culture,” states the description of the broadcast.

James Watt, BrewDog CEO & Co-Founder wrote in a blog post yesterday that, “the process of importing our own beer was new to us and we took some shortcuts to get the beer to America on time and we made some mistakes with the paperwork on the first few shipments.”
