BA Hires Pete Johnson

The Brewers Association announced last week the hiring of Pete Johnson to
fill the newly created position of Programs Manager. Johnson’s key areas of
responsibility will include implementation and integration of past BAA
programs and projects into the Brewers Association, state guild development
and liaison, membership development and government affairs communications.
“His main responsibility will be to help integrate the BAA’s program and
initiatives into the BA so we don’t drop the ball on previous BAA members,”
said Bob Pease, vice president of the BA. Another key role for Johnson will
be working closely with state brewers guilds. Johnson will help facilitate
the needs of existing state guilds as well as assist brewers in forming new
guilds. “There are 28 state guilds on our list,” said Pease. “We estimate
about 20 of those are active and handful of those which are very active.”

Since 2001, Johnson worked as the Program Director for the Brewers’
Association of America. Johnson’s work experience includes working for both
state and federal elected officials, including serving as District Director
to Congressman Jim Greenwood of Pennsylvania for 10 years.

“We’re very excited to have Pete onboard,” says Paul Gatza, Director of the
Brewers Association. “In addition to his hire representing a true merger
between the two organizations, his breadth of knowledge of government
affairs and membership activities will help strengthen our program and
provide continuity to past BAA members.”

He will be based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina but “will be in Boulder
periodically and will be attending conferences such as the Craft Brewers
Conference, Legislative Conference and Great American Brewers Festival,”
Pease said. He can be reached at (919) 619-5983 or by email
pete@brewersassociation.org.
