News Attend the THRIVE Workshop at CBC

Calling it “a conference within a conference” the THRIVE workshop will debut this year at the Craft Brewers Conference, that will explore diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), human resources (HR), and wellness topics.

Organizers say the workshop is an opportunity to develop a range of people-focused practices that elevate small businesses.

“The workshop will give attendees the opportunity for the kind of sustained in-depth engagement with people-centered practices and learning about DEI, HR, and wellness that is difficult to deliver in seminars that are spread out throughout CBC,” said J Jackson-Beckham, Brewers Association equity and inclusion partner.

Scottie Carter, executive vice president of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Greater Twin Cities United Way will kick off the THRIVE conference with a speech to attendees. According to his bio, Carter is a graduate of Howard University School of Law and has worked for more than 15 years on issues of inequity as a professional, community organizer, and volunteer. At the Greater Twin Cities United Way, Carter is a catalyst for intentional change who challenges the status quo in the service of building a more diverse and equitable organization that serves the community.

Carter plans to speak to the THRIVE Workshop attendees about the power of community engagement and the opportunities small businesses have to affect positive change, organizers say.

The rest of the day will host educational seminars, and interactive workshops on topics like creating safe workspaces, as well as locations that promote safe and welcoming cultures for patrons.

“This workshop is for everyone, but it will be especially useful for those who want to prioritize DEI, HR, and wellness but haven’t quite worked out how to integrate them into their business practices,” said Jackson-Beckham.

THRIVE will also have opportunities for attendees to speak directly with experts on employee assistance programs, inclusive management practices, and more.

ProBrewer is sponsoring the THRIVE initiative at the conference.

The area will also host a screening of One Pint at a Time, a film about Black brewers, brand owners, and influencers across the country that are reshaping the craft beer industry.

THRIVE will be held on May 2, 2022 at the Minneapolis Convention Center and requires a separate registration which is available through the conference website
