News Legend Brewing Closes Portsmouth Location – Allagash to Open New Satellite Tasting Room

An opening and a closing.

Legend Brewing will close its Olde Towne Portsmouth location on Sunday, September 11, while Allagash Brewing in Maine announced yesterday it will open a new satellite tasting room near its current brewery.

Legend Brewing decided to close its Portsmouth restaurant and brewery this past weekend after opening five years ago. The 4,300-square-foot satellite location, called Legend Brewing Depot, has operated in the Seaboard Building in Olde Towne since leasing the space in late 2016.

In a Wednesday, August 31 Facebook post, Legend thanked Portsmouth customers for years of patronage and letting the brewery be a part of the community. More on the story here.

Meanwhile, Allagash Brewing Company announced it is purchasing 7-plus acres of land in Scarborough, Maine to develop and build a new custom-designed tasting room slated to open in 2024. The future space will be located within The Downs, Southern Maine’s new mixed-use, live-work-play community, located right off I-95—a 15-minute drive from the brewery.

“Portland has been and will always be our home. It’s where we brew all of the beer that made us what we are today, where we employ a team of over 140 people, and that’s not changing,” said Rob Tod, Founder of Allagash. “Our core goal at Allagash has been to give people new experiences and create community through beer, and this future space in Scarborough will achieve that and so much more.”
