News New Jersey Brewpub Bill

Bill would expand rights of brewpubs

New Jersey State Assemblyman Craig J. Coughlin last week announced the introduction of legislation that could revise restrictions currently in place for New Jersey microbreweries and brewpubs.

Among other changes, the bill would amend fees levied against breweries for the production of certain quantities of beer, increase the maximum allowed annual production of beer, and allow all types of small brewers to offer samples and sales of their products in a greater variety of venues.

Brewpubs are currently limited to 3,000 barrels annually but the bill would raise that limit to 10,000. The bill also would allow brewpubs to distribute beer to other local bars and liquor stores.
