News ABInBev CEO Carlos Brito to Step Down

Anheuser-Busch InBev announced that Chief Executive Officer Carlos Brito will step down after 15 years as CEO and 32 years at the company.

The Board of Directors unanimously elected Michel Doukeris, President of AB InBev’s North America Zone, to succeed Brito effective 1 July, 2021.

Brito’s departure is the end of an era for the brewing industry. After the Busch family lost control of the company in a hostile takeover by InBev in 2008, Brito was named to run the new combined company. He quickly turned ABInBev into a cost-cutting, high-efficiency global company and began a course of acquiring regional brewers around the world. In 2016 AB InBev acquired SABMiller and now owns and brews approximately 630 beer brands in 150 countries.
