News New Features Announced for 2005 GABF

Upcoming festival to feature expanded beer & food pairings

The Brewers Association has announced details for the 2005 Great American Beer Festival, September 29 – October 1, at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver. The 2005 edition of the annual GABF will feature 1600 beers, from 372 American breweries. It will be the biggest selection of beers ever gathered together on the globe.

“No nation in the world produces a greater variety of artisan beers than the United States,” says Paul Gatza, director of the Brewers Association. “The GABF showcases those beers and their makers, it’s the world’s best beer-tasting event.”

The 2005 GABF will cover 144,000 square feet in the newly renovated Colorado Convention Center and will include a 44,000 square foot Beer Garden and Food Marketplace.

This year, the GABF’s popular food & beer pairing seminars will move from the Beer Garden to the center of the festival hall. Selected brewers will join local and national celebrity chefs for demonstrations on how to cook with beer, and pair different styles of beer with various dishes.

“America’s craft brewers know that beer — not wine — is the best beverage for accompanying a good meal,” says Nancy Johnson, GABF director. “This year we’re stepping up our effort to educate America’s chefs and consumers on the wonders of combining fantastic food with the diverse flavors of craft beer.”

The Beer Garden and Food Marketplace will host live music by various Colorado artists, beer education booths, and other attractions. Visit www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com for a full list of GABF breweries, cooking demo schedules and menus, live music details, and more information.
