News Grocery Stores Are a Clear Winner – Sales Soar by 39%

Grocery stores and other food retailers are a clear winner in the pandemic era with profits up by an average of 39% in the first half of the year according to an article in the Detroit Free Press.

Kroger saw its net earnings for the first two quarters almost double while Walmart’s profit increased by 45% during the first three quarters. Amazon, which owns Whole Foods, saw a 53% increase and Costco’s profit was up 11% in the first three quarters.
