News Jason Yester Sells Trinity Brewing

Jason Yester has sold Trinity Brewing in Colorado Springs and decided to get out of the craft brewing business that he says he no longer recognizes.

Yester is well-known in the industry for his unique brewing technique and inspiring beers, including TPS Report, which won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2009. The brewer created the distinctive beer by fermenting it entirely with Brettanomyces and then adding lemon and tangerine zest and aging it in French oak chardonnay barrels. The result was an earthy, elegant, complex beer that was like nothing most people had tasted before.

He is also an outspoken brewer, often taking on beer writers, consumers and other brewers. The hazy IPA fad has particularly caught his ire. “I just don’t connect with the industry anymore,” he told The Westwood when referring to the hazy IPA trend. “It is really hard being in the industry for 24 years, an industry that was so diverse, and is now so homogenous [when it comes to beer styles]. I don’t feel like there is a lot of creativity behind it.”
