Could someone tell me the cheap and easy way to measure how much water I'm pushing through a hose and into a tank?

I used a know volume (five gallon bucket), open the hose full, and started my stopwatch. At 45 seconds, I have a full five-gallon bucket of water.
Another way, fill your tank by the bucket. Keep track of how many bucket fulls it takes to get to a predetermined level. Now you will know that tank volume to that level. Next, refill the tank by the hose, again using your stopwatch. This will give you a flow:time relationship. Hope this helps.
