I am in search of large food grade mesh bags for steeping herbs. I need them to be big enough to hold roughly 5 lbs of dried herbs, with plenty of room for them to expand when in the kettle. Any ideas?
Thanks!!
head over to your local Porter Paints. They sell bags to strain 1 gallon and 5 gallon buckets of paint. Perfect for you me thinks.

are you dryhopping with whole leaves? or using these bags in the boil?
I have been thinking about getting a large stainless steel steeping ball made for this same purpose. what do you think?

I am using whole leaves in the boil...and have given much thought to the large stainless "tea ball" plan too. I think it would work well - just maybe pricey for me at this moment. My other issue is that I need to be able to squeeze the juices out after the steep.
I'm going to check out those paint strainer bags.
You may be thinking this is a totally odd process - but we actually brew all natural soda...using both dried and fresh herbs.
Thanks for the suggestions - and good luck with the steeping ball, I'd be very interested to hear about it!
