I am in search of large food grade mesh bags for steeping herbs. I need them to be big enough to hold roughly 5 lbs of dried herbs, with plenty of room for them to expand when in the kettle. Any ideas?
Thanks!!
head over to your local Porter Paints. They sell bags to strain 1 gallon and 5 gallon buckets of paint. Perfect for you me thinks.

are you dryhopping with whole leaves? or using these bags in the boil?
I have been thinking about getting a large stainless steel steeping ball made for this same purpose. what do you think?

Try ordering stockinette from a medical supply house. It is sterile and food-grade cotton knit....we just hack off a piece the required length, put a knot in one end, fill it up, knot, and tether it so that we can retrieve it. Works like a charm, and never had an issue with nasties...so long as you have clean hands or gloves on when you handle the stockinette...oh, and sani the scissors well before you cut.... I suggest the 4" width...about $4 for 50'.
