I am planning to start my brewery next year. While doing research I investigated the license fees to manufacture/sell beer in Ohio. Ohio license is as follows.
Make and sell beer to retail/bars = $4000 per year
Sell your beer to customers in your own tap room = $4000 per year.
That is $8000 per year in license.
I am just curious. How much would this cost in your state?
Thanks,
Rich

as others are indicating, there's more than just the brewery license.
Virginia:
Brewery : $2150
brand/label registration: $30 ea
retail off with keg: $185
about $8.15/bbl excise tax when beer sold @ retail
Ohio also has a $50 per product registration fee.... This applies to each different beer you make, although I believe it is a one time deal and not paid annually...
Of course all of the Federal stuff has to be paid as well.....
Kinda makes you just wanna go back to homebrewing........

the only cost associated with filing for the ttb brewers notice is the bond. We did a $1000 collatertal bond and that was the entire cost of appliying/licensure, excepting postage.
that only covers $1000/$7 per bbl tax = 142 bbl annual production and will need to be increased as necessary.
