We are in the process of finding a place to set up our brewery and as many of you know this is a difficult process. We have been running into an issue with sewer drainage. Most of the warehouses/garages do not have floor drainage. Other then cutting a hole into the floor and running a new sewer line has anyone developed an alternative? I was thinkig about possible a sump as a possible alternative? Keep in mind we are looking at 12 barrels a month...... so will not be a large amount of water.

Just pour a little sloped slab with a curb around it and a drain in the middle. You will really like it...you would really hate using a squeegee on a level floor. Do plan for your inevitable future expansion.

The floor drain isn't a requirement. On my 1 bbl system I can manually vlean everything outside or over the sink. If you're not cleaning in place it's an option. I use a shop vac when I need to. But, like moonlight said, I've been planning on expansion the whole time and we cut giant floor drains in our new facility and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

We too have been running into similar difficulties searching for a location. But I had thought about pouring a sloped slab pitched to a drain. I'm also considering tileing that area. A location I'm looking at has all concrete floors and its a 5 story building, so for us I think it will work well.
Good luck,
