No Glass – No Way says CAMRA

Real ale campaigners in the U.K. have withdrawn their involvement in a beer festival this weekend following a row over glass versus plastic.

A local branch of the group Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) pulled out of an annual festival in the town of Bath after being told of plans to ban glasses at this year’s event, with a suggestion that plastic cups be used instead.

Members said such a rule went against the whole ethos of the organization.

After 33 years of running the event in Bath, the local CAMRA branch felt that banning glass along with other issues was reason to pull out.
