Briess Malt & Ingredients Company announces a one-of-a-kind contest to reward the craft brewers of one-of-a-kind beers who have made us North America's leading manufacturer of specialty malts for the brewing industry on this, our 130th anniversary. The "Have a Ball at Briess™" contest salutes the brewing industry and offers the Grand prize winner the once-in-a-lifetime chance to actually help produce a Briess roasted specialty malt in a traditional K-Ball Roaster and claim naming rights to the finished product at the Briess malthouse in Chilton, Wisconsin.
Briess Malt & Ingredients Company Celebrates 130 years of Malting Tradition!
A tradition of bringing out the best grain has to offer
The roots of Briess Malt & Ingredients Company date back to 1876 when Ignatius Briess, a grain exchanger by trade, began malting barley grown in his homeland of Moravia, Czechoslovakia. By the turn of the century his son, Rudolph Briess, had grown the company into one of the world's most respected producers of malt for the international brewing industry.
Briess releases 130th Anniversary Malt
To celebrate 130 years of malting tradition, Briess Malt & Ingredients Company offers the brewing industry our special Briess™ Anniversary Malt. Produced in the company's Chilton, Wisconsin, malthouse from 2-Row Moravian barley, Briess™ Anniversary Malt is a light-colored, mild flavored, low protein pilsener-style malt reminiscent of malts originally produced at the family's Czechoslovakian malthouse. Moravian is historically the preferred barley for lager beer, and Briess™ Anniversary Malt holds true to that tradition. It has a clean, delicately malty flavor with subtle sweetness. It produces smooth wort with low astringency. Low in protein, it is characterized by very plump kernels. Briess™ Anniversary Malt is suitable as the base malt for any beer style.
